John C. Donnelly

Current Experience

Mr. Donnelly is a co-founder and Consulting Director for DPP serving the banking and financial services industry. Mr. Donnelly also founded the former Donnelly Penman Financial Services Fund, LP, a private equity fund that invested in community banks throughout the country.

Past Experience

Prior to co-founding DPP in 2000, Mr. Donnelly served as a Managing Director in the investment banking department of Raymond James & Associates, Inc. where he focused on the financial services industries. He joined Raymond James in 1999 concurrent with the acquisition of Roney & Co., a Midwest based investment banking and brokerage firm where Mr. Donnelly was a Partner and member of the Executive Committee. Earlier in his career, Mr. Donnelly was a Managing Director of Investment Banking for First of Michigan Corporation (now Oppenheimer) and was previously a commercial banker with Manufacturer’s National Bank (now Comerica) and Michigan National Bank (now Bank of America).

Mr. Donnelly is a former Trustee of Corewell Health (formerly Beaumont Health System) and currently serves on the Grosse Pointe Development Committee for Corewell Health. Mr. Donnelly is a former Partner with Cornerstone Schools in Detroit, and a former director of Carolina Premier Bank in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Education

Mr. Donnelly graduated from Georgetown University with a degree in Economics and holds an M.B.A. degree from the University of Detroit Mercy (UDM). Mr. Donnelly is a co-founding contributor to the MAJESTIC Fund, a private investment fund managed by business students of UDM for the benefit of the University. In 2022 Mr. Donnelly was awarded UDM’s Alumni Achievement Spirit Award on behalf of the College of Business Administration. The Spirit Awards were established to recognize the University’s distinguished graduates from each of its colleges and schools. Mr. Donnelly also holds various securities licenses with FINRA.
